Data collected by Zap-Map – it tracks the myriad of changes to provide the EV charging statistics below – is used to update reports on a monthly basis. At the end of April 2022, there were 31507 charging points across the UK, across 19707 charging locations. This represents a 35% increase in the number of charging devices since April 2021.
Last month, 1213 new charging devices were added to the Zap-Map database.
Scotland had a 9.4% of the total in the UK, equivalent to over 3,000 charge points.
Of course, these figures do not include the many charge points installed at home or at workplace locations, which are estimated to be more than 400,000 (UK) and over 37,000 (Scotland). Some of these charge points are available to the public in some form via community or visitor charging.
