Tesla Update

Tesla has quietly increased its presence in Scotland in 2021 with the addition of two new locations in Aberdeen and Glasgow alongside the existing presence in Edinburgh.

Tesla Glasgow is the latest location to open, offering sales, service and delivery. Located off junction 15 of the M8, the Glasgow site is 14,000 sqft with space to service five cars at once. The new store supports customers in Glasgow and the surrounding areas.

Tesla’s Aberdeen location is the UK’s most northerly Tesla Centre. This location, which covers an area of over 12,000 sqft, can service up to three cars at once. Outside the store, there are eight 250kW Superchargers supporting those who commute into Aberdeen city centre or wish to explore North East Scotland.

Tesla Edinburgh continues to serve customers from the 20,000 sqft site. Situated next to Edinburgh Airport in Newbridge, the site is easily accessible from both the M8 and M9 and can service seven cars at one time. Eight 250kW Superchargers are located outside the store to support customers who commute into Edinburgh city centre and those who wish to explore the Scottish Borders or travel North across the Forth Road Bridge.

Tesla also operates Mobile Service with 100% coverage in mainland Scotland. The Mobile Service experience starts with the Tesla app. Customers organise a service appointment choosing a time and date to suit them, uploading information on the issue as well as pictures if needed. With remote information, Tesla can pre-diagnose the issue and, where possible, fix the car with a software update. If that isn’t possible, Mobile Service can come to the customer’s home or work location.

When a service centre appointment is needed, for example if a lift is required, customers can drop their car off at their chosen Scottish location and a readily cleaned loaner can be unlocked for their use. For any non-warranty work, customers are able to approve their estimate and pay for service the way they booked it, through the Tesla app, and then collect their car without having to step into the service centre. The touchless process enables 24/7 drop off and collection so that the customer can choose a time most convenient to them.

Tesla Superchargers

There are now 66 Superchargers at 10 locations across Scotland from Gretna Green to Inverness. The Tesla Supercharger network encourages owners to explore, charging a car in minutes rather than hours and owners can use the Tesla app to monitor, control and get notifications when charging is complete via the Tesla app.

Tesla Test Drives

Touchless test drives are available for Model 3 across all locations. Customer’s organise a touchless test drive online, do the ‘paperwork’ in advance and the car is unlocked for them remotely at their chosen Tesla location. At this point, they will find a readily clean car to use for their test drive and a video tutorial on screen to enhance the experience. They simply return when they have finished. All help can be given over the phone or socially distanced in store and, if they want to, an order can be placed online at their leisure.
